CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS: The story of Halloween should be explained in German. It goes back  over 2000 years to the ancient Celts. Druidic priests regarded the day as the end of the year. The word itself has its origins in the the Catholic Church. It comes from a contracted corruption of All Hallows Eve.The custom of trick-or treating is thought to have originated with a ninth-century European custom called souling...
 
THE SONG: Before you play the song introduce the new words like devil, witch, queen, king, money, sweets, wizard, zombie and ghost. Copy worksheet 1 onto OHP transparency (scan worksheet 1 for projection on interactive whiteboard)  and cover the song text with a sheet of paper while showing and explaining the first picture ("A devil is the king"). 
Make your pupils repeat the rhyme(s) after you until their pronunciation is correct. Uncover ... 

Then play the song on the CD, point at the pictures.and sing along. Cut out the pictures, distribute them to your class and play the song again. Sing along and make your pupils  .....
